MISSION
textpress began with the attempt to create a site where people with many different philosophies could publish their ideas in a shared and an unbiased atmosphere, with access to a discussion thread for each published submission.
textpress has a strict policy against most cases of censorship and is explicitly antibigotry and against biased media outlets. We also encourage users to respond how they feel is it appropriate, in a critical thinking manner, to featured posts and their associated discussions.
textpress does not endorse any featured topic as representing the shared opinions of textpress or it’s creative team.
textpress has no hierarchy; administrative support is mainly a technical role, besides assisting users by bettering site accessibility and functionality, removing personally identifying information, spam and illegal content. All members are encouraged to report content considered to be illegal by contacting support for its removal. Any suspected illegal activity can be reported to the relevant law enforcement authorities by any person.
All messages and posts express the views of the author, and neither the owners of textpress, nor Proboards will be held responsible for the content of any message or post. textpress reserves the right not to feature a post for any reason or to remove accounts/content for any reason if it is deemed necessary, though this is not anticipated to occur nor welcomed.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
There will be a limit to the amount of submissions a person has made versus the amount published in the span of a month. We'll assume 2/3 of all submissions will be featured in a timely manner, others might roll over until your monthly post limit is reset. Arbitrarily, almost, we will avoid posting more than 8-12 posts from any one username or email address in a month. This is not a concrete rule, either, just a rule of thumb at first that may or may not be followed. You may choose to identify yourself. If you submit something there is a 99% chance it will end up being featured at some point. Featured content will otherwise be chosen in random order with a randomizing software. If you don't sign your name to your submission, it will be posted as submitted by anonymous. Text posts that are at least 250 words will have a better chance of being published first or to remain on the top of the topics page for longer. The block text making up the paragraph that the sentence you’re reading is in, as an example, is two hundred fifty words itself. Excessively long posts might be separated into installments but this is more likely for 2,500-5,000+ words. Try to write featured posts with a specific topic(s) in mind and elaborate on your personal thoughts. We encourage users to source anything they contest to be absolute fact if possible in discussions with appropriate source information. Quality>Quantity.
GROUND RULES
1. Do not post content that violates copyright law, is spam, or is illegal. Please make reports concerning illegal content if you see someone post it.
2. Do not post anything that would corrupt the forum technically or it's users (scripts, viruses, etc.).
3. Do not harass other members in posts, threads, private messages, signatures, avatars, or in member profiles and comments. This would include repeated and unwanted targeting or threatening of another member.
4. Do not encourage another person to self-harm.
5. Do not post other members' personal information. It can and will be removed upon request and considered a form of harassment under certain circumstances.
6. Do not post links to illegally downloadable/ pirated copyrighted material.
